Big game fishing is a sport that is taken very seriously
in Kenya and has many enthusiasts. Malindi Sea Fishing
Club is especially famous for organizing sailfishing
tournaments. Malindi is ranked as the second most
prolific sailfish tea in the world. Shimoni, Mtwapa,
Kilifi and Watamu are other areas where record catches
are the order of the day. Sport fishing is not only
confined to the Kenya Coast since trout fishing is
carried out on rivers flowing from mount Kenya. Some
of the great Rift Valley lakes also offer sport fishing
for species such as the Nile Perch, tilapia and the
black bass.
From the surf pounded reefs at the Coast to the serene
streams on the slopes of the snow-capped Mt. Kenya,
the volcanic shores of Lake Turkana to the shores
of Lake Victoria and Lake Naivasha, you can combine
a fishing expedition with either a suntan on the beach,
game viewing, bird watching, rock/mountain climbing,
golf or camel riding to enrich your holiday and make
your visit to Kenya an enjoyable and memorable experience.
